Clotted Cream Substitute


2 cups heavy whipping cream

6 Tablespoons buttermilk

1 1/2 Tablespoons powdered sugar


In a glass jar, combine cream and buttermilk. Place lid on top, but don't seal. Let it sit on the counter at room temperature 48 hours. Drain off any liquid that settles on bottom of jar. Mixture will have thickened and look like sour cream. Seal and place in refrigerator until ready to use. Before serving, gently stir in powered sugar. Serve with warm scones.
