Snicker Doodles

1 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cup sifted flour
2 tsp. Cream of Tartar
1 tsp. Baking soda
1/2 tsp. Salt

Cream together thoroughly the shortening and sugar, then add and mix in the eggs well.

Sift the remaining 4 ingredients together and add to the sugar mixture. Chill dough and roll into balls the size of small walnuts. Roll the balls in a mixture of 2 Tab. Sugar and 2 tsp. Cinnamon. Place the balls 2 inches apart on an ungreased or parchment lined cookie sheet. Bake until lightly browned, but still soft - at 400° F. 8 to 10 minutes.

This is an old recipe from my files...written in pencil. Not sure who gave it to me...great cookie for teatime.

**IDEA. . . When the children come home from school, sit down for a few minutes with a cup of tea and a snicker doodle and find out how everyone's day went!
