Spring Basket Cookies

3/4 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
2 Tab milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/3 cup flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 cup sugar (to roll cookies in)
30 miniature Reese's Peanut ButterCups (Cut in half)

Candy flowers from cake decorating shop or make your own with frosting. Optional: green gumdrops, flattened and cut into small leaves. Cream Peanut butter, shortening, 1/2-cup sugar and the brown sugar. Add egg, milk and vanilla, mix well. Combine flour, baking soda and salt and add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Shape into walnut-sized balls and roll in the sugar. Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake at 350° F for 10 to 12 minutes. Cookies should be just lightly browned. Remove from oven and place one half of the peanut butter cup, cut side down on each cookie. This makes the little basket for the flowers. Place a candy flower and a couple gumdrop leaves onto the cookie above the basket. It will look like the flowers are coming out of the basket. Cool. Makes 60 cookies (Unknown)
